OCP’s Employees of Choice are individuals who exemplify the qualities and characteristics that have made our 50 years of success possible. Employees of Choice are employees in the field and office who lead by action to advance safety, productivity, and innovation on projects. Additionally, these employees are consistent, dependable, and contribute for the betterment of the team. Thanks to the hard work of these individuals, OCP has proudly become the interior Contractor of Choice.

Steven Diem

  • Position: Apprentice
  • Industry Tenure: 1 Year
  • Length of Employment with OCP: 1 Year

"Steven started with us at one of the largest projects in OCP Toledo's history, Generations of Care ProMedica. Despite being placed into a job with over 90 OCP trades people, and 25 of which were his fellow apprentice, Steven was able to make space for himself and stand out among everyone. He has come a long way in his time with OCP and continues to grow in his trade. He is definitely one of our up-and-coming carpenters.   • What do you value most about OCP?
  • They’ve always treated me right. My checks are on time and correct. Every employee that I’ve worked with so far from OCP have always taken the time to teach me the correct and most efficient ways to do my trade.
  • What is your favorite aspect of your job?
  • Never a dull moment. Every day that I work a learn a few new things, and I’m sure I’ll be learning for the rest of my career. The latest thing I’ve learned is how to put top track up correctly.
  • What hobbies do you have outside of work?
  • I enjoy going out and shooting trap with my friends. Golfing with my father. And during football season I enjoy watching football.

Jeff Coldren

  • Position: Journeyman Carpenter
  • Industry Tenure: 17 Years
  • Length of Employment with OCP: 1 Year

  • What has been the highlight of your career in construction?
  • Joining the union.
  • What would you tell another person interested in joining the industry?
  • Come to work for OCP. We are the best in quality and safety, and are by far the best company to work for that also cares.
  • What hobbies do you have outside of work?
  • Family trips and hiking.
  • Who inspires you?
  • My girls.

Shane Goodrich

  • Position: Apprentice Carpenter
  • Industry Tenure: 3 Years
  • Length of Employment with OCP: 3 Years

“Shane Goodrich started with OCP as a new apprentice, and will be graduating to Journeyman Carpenter in January. Shane is a hardworking individual that arrives every day eager to tackle whatever work he is challenged with, he picks up new skills quickly and is always trying to take on more. Shane is very receptive to new ideas and his positive attitude and good nature make him a welcome and great asset for the OCP team.” - Jason Van Devender, Cleveland Superintendent

  • What is your favorite aspect of your job?
  • I like that it’s always changing.
  • What is your favorite project you have worked on?
  • The Chagrin Falls Intermediate School. I’ve done a lot of framing on the job. It’s cool that it’s a old building and a project close to home.
  • What brought you to the construction industry?
  • My high school teacher at Mayfield HS, Mr. Zippy.
  • What hobbies do you have outside of work?
  • Riding my dirt bike, going to the gym, drinking beers, things like that.
  • What is the one thing you want to learn in the next year with OCP?
  • As much as I can. I want to learn everything I can.
