OCP Women in construction week 2020

Celebrating Women in Construction Week 2020

Women in Construction (WIC) Week March 1st through 7th is the perfect opportunity to highlight OCP's women as a viable component of the construction industry and engage the workforce on the opportunities available for women in the industry. Women in construction celebrates the diversification of the construction workforce and highlights the benefits of a career in the industry.

Females comprise 47 percent of the country's workforce; however, that rate is just 9 percent in the construction industry and just under 3 percent in production roles, according to the National Association of Women in Construction. As the industry faces a skilled workforce shortage, it is imperative OCP continues to actively address the lack of female talent within the construction industry.

OCP is making positive strides every day to make equal representation in the workforce a reality and WIC Week is the time to celebrate that.

2020 WIC Week activities include the following:

  • A special luncheon for all our women team members in each region with panel questions. Questions will include topics such as how OCP can attract more women into the workforce and opportunities to improve OCP's culture.
  • A field survey requesting anonymous feedback on improvements that could be made.
  • A social media contest showcasing OCP's pride in support of WIC Week.

Following these events leadership will take both the responses from the survey and luncheon panel to determine changes that will be made moving forward. We look forward to celebrating with each of you. Employees are encouraged to wear the previous year's WIC Week gear that week to show their support.
